THIS IS A (bittersweet) ANNOUNCEMENT
Just in case you didn’t get sick of it before every screening this year, here’s one last look at our opening bumper for deadCENTER 10, featuring clips from many of our outstanding films. (we tried to include them all in a minute, but we didn’t want to induce any seizures from the quick edits).
Stay tuned for more fun from this year’s fest, and news on upcoming events!
The most common question asked of filmmakers after screening at a film festival is “What are you working on now?”
Well the boys at Singletree Productions are wasting no time after their long-awaited Grand Jury Prize win at deadCENTER last weekend, and the news is already sweeping the internets. Check out the trailer below. It’s, shall we say… ambitious…

Awards for the 2010 deadCENTER Film Festival were presented Saturday night. Here are the winners:

Make sure you’re at the Oklahoma City Museum of Art at 12:30 and 2 pm today for the last two panel discussions of the festival.
At 1230, Julie Porter of the OK Film and Music Office will be talking with some of Oklahoma’s most talented independent filmmakers for the “How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Make My Movie” panel. We’ll be hearing about how these filmmakers got that first film done; it’s a must-see for any aspiring filmmakers out there.
At 2 pm, the museum will screen “For the Love of Movies: The Story of American Film Criticism,” and a panel discussion moderated by OKMOA film curator Brian Hearn will follow immediately afterwards. The panel will feature Elvis Mitchel, Pete VonderHaar and the director of the film, Gerald Peary. We expect a big turnout for this screening, so make sure you secure a seat early.
Tonight we’ll be gathering under the stars to watch a tremendous documentary about one man’s journey to follow his father’s footsteps into space. The name of the film is Richard Garriott: Man on a Mission, and it’s a free screening Saturday June 12th at 9:00pm, immediately following the deadCENTER Awards ceremony and Cosmic Arts Jubilee.

Let’s hear from the director, Mike Woolf:
Okay, you’ve seen some films and gone to some parties – but your deadCENTER experience isn’t complete unless you’ve checked out our panel series.
It all kicks off today with our “Technology in Film” Panel. Every week there’s a new gadget, platform, or software that promises to change the way we make, watch, and share movies. It’s hard to keep up, but there’s a new breed of filmmakers who have ideas about how to stay ahead of the curve.
Following the World Premiere screening of Heart of Now, our program director Kevin Ely will be sitting down with the director, Zak Forsman and the star, Marion Kerr, along with filmmakers Christopher Sharpe and Jeremy Berger to talk about rapidly changing technology has changed how they produce, market and distribute films both practically and creatively.
So go see Heart of Now at 2 pm at the Museum today and stick around for the panel at 4. It’s like a DVD commentary right in front of your face.
Although I’ve only been involved with the festival for around 4 years, it’s been amazing to see how much it has grown while remaining completely indie and awesome. The “Tattoo” party has been traded up for the fantastic Friday Night Frolic. Super-duper famous people take our phone calls (or at least the message gets to their assistants). Our programs are in full color. Small steps towards making the biggest film festival in Oklahoma even bigger.
I know what you’re thinking. And yes, the parties are at the Museum of Art and Nonna’s tonight. But also, wouldn’t it be cool to get to see the spectacular growth of deadCENTER?
Well kiddos, you’re in luck. Tonight through Sunday, the Independent Artists of Oklahoma gallery (or IAO for you hipsters) is housing an interactive eXhibition spanning all 10 years of the festival. Come see the good and the not-so-good-but-so-bad-its-awesome, get a drink, sign our autograph wall, and take some pictures with bonafide celebrities. It’s your opportunity to become a part of deadCENTER history.
See you there!
Due to an over-whelming amount of awesomeness, tonight’s screening of Biker Fox has been moved to Kerr Auditorium at 10:15 pm. Please, tell your friends, your neighbors, your family and random people on the street.
If you need help finding Kerr, check the map below, or use the walking directions tool on our front page. And if you need reminding of why this news is important, well, I’ve included the Biker Fox trailer below as well.
