deadCENTER at SXSW: Sunny Sunday
Against all odds, we made it to the last ten minutes of the Austin Film Festival brunch. Shocking, I know. The awesome Kelly Williams put on a sweet event, and we met the director of a film that was submitted to deadCENTER. A film I saw last week and loved so no awkwardness, thank goodness.
Brushing the crumbs of breakfast burrito off in the cab, Cacky and I raced to the 1:30 screening of Richard Garriott: Man on A Mission.
Local legend, son of an astronaut and father of online role playing games, Garriott’s #1 dream in life is to go to space. And with all his tech money, he can. I can’t really review the film from my phone, but I hope hope hope everyone on the planet gets to see this movie.
After the film, we wandered into another party for Kick-Ass. If this was a political campaign, this film would have outspent the competition 800
pieces of swag ago. However, we were super early (and not invited), so we grabbed a bloody mary and headed off to the Alamo Lamar for a Spaulding Gray doc.
Stuck in traffic and missing the movie, we chose to enjoy some fine drafthouse snacks in the sunshine and get some thrift store shopping in. While making our plan, our new best friend publicist from last night showed up. His next film, Lebanon, PA. is about to start. So in we went!
