deadCenter’s statewide education program uses the process of making movies to help students think more creatively, collaborate more willingly, and speak more confidently in front of their peers. If you are interested in having deadCenter lead free film classes at your school, please email us at

deadCenter works with teachers and administrators to identify the best program for the particular school. Typically, we offer 45-minute classes within each class period during the day. For schools with more flexible schedules, we also offer three-hour comprehensive seminars that include equipment training.

The free film seminars include: choosing topics for films, writing screenplays, acting, auditioning for films, film production, available crew positions, camera and lighting equipment training, post production, theatrical and online distribution, film festivals, and film education opportunities in Oklahoma. Each topic is explored through an activity that gets the students collaborating and creating ideas together.

Participating schools include Guymon, Laverne, Seiling, Woodward, Alva, Ponca City, Bartlesville, Tulsa, Jenks, Miami, Durant, Ada, Ardmore, Elgin, Purcell, Wayne, Davis, Edmond, Midwest City, Putnam City, Oklahoma City, and many more. This program was awarded the 2014 Governor’s Arts Award for Education from the Oklahoma Arts Council.

deadCenter happens with the help of over 400 volunteers. We'd love for you to be part of the magic.
